Recology, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal & Risk Officer

Cary Chen oversees legal, corporate compliance, and enterprise risk management matters for Recology. Cary joined Recology as its first in-house counsel in 2013 and has served as Corporate Secretary since 2014. In 2016, he became a member of the executive team with his promotion to Senior Vice President and General Counsel.

Before joining Recology, Cary practiced law at Morrison & Foerster, where he advised public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, and other corporate matters. He later served as Associate General Counsel of GREE International, a mobile gaming startup.

In 2018, Cary was recognized as a “Best Lawyer Under 40” by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. He currently serves as President of the Board of APA Family Support Services. Cary earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford and a law degree from UC Hastings.
