Bayview-Hunters Point
Children's Oral Health Task Force

APA is the facilitator for CavityFree SF Bayview-Hunters Children's Oral Health Task Force.

The Task Force engages parents/guardians and other caregivers living in the Bayview-Hunters Point and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods area of San Francisco, with a focus on Black and African American children, youth and their families/caregivers.

CavityFree SF is a city-wide collaborative of providers, schools, nonprofits and health systems with a focus on addressing the tooth decay health disparity faced by San Francisco youth ages 0-5.

Addressing Health Inequalities
While progress has been made over recent years to provide more programs and services, high rates of untreated tooth decay continue to be reported. Significant inequalities exist based on race and income. In 2017, children of color were 2-3 times more likely to experience tooth decay than white children.

Our goal is to reduce oral health issues by influencing policies that affect our community, providing resources to families and caregivers, and establishing support systems to provide preventive services and treatment.
Core Team
Taskforce Coordinator:
Justin Adeyanju (APA Family Support Services)
Co-Chairs:
Mariah Rice, RDA  (Marin City Health and Wellness Center)
Lesley Latham, DDS (UCSF)

For more info or interested in joining the Taskforce please contact us:
