Graduations: After 10 weeks of hard work and dedication, 6 moms at our Excelsior site graduated from the Triple P - Positive Parenting Program. At our Visitacion Valley Strong Families family center, our Chinese and Spanish Triple P courses each had 14 graduates. This is an evidence-based parenting program which involves core principles of positive parenting and effective behavior change. It utilizes strategies to reduce behavioral and emotional concerns in children 2-12 years old. Under the guidance of accredited providers, parents are encouraged to share their parenting experiences and parenting techniques. Each participant receives a certificate upon completion.
Also graduating this summer are participants of APIPES (Asian Pacific Islander Parent Education Support). The curriculum of this parenting class focuses on integrating parents’ insight and cultural values to compare with mainstream American perspectives of child development, discipline, and parenting and families.
