Our Services

APA strengthens families with a spectrum of services to prevent and if necessary, treat problems that may occur as a result of stress, barriers and challenges of language, finances, and lack of resources. Our capable, dedicated and professional staff support families with the following programs to ensure families succeed.
Parent Support (Prevention) which includes outreach and engagement, parenting education, support groups, health education, kinship support, Early Literacy and Economic Self-Sufficiency Project.
Home Visitation (Early Intervention) services are provided by bilingual and bicultural staff. Clinical Services (Crisis Intervention) which include bilingual counseling, school-based mental health services, SafeStart Violence Prevention, API Parental Stress Line, Enhanced Visitation, case management, intake and assessment.
Community Development is headed by APA's Asian and Pacific Islander Family Resources Network (APIFRN), a collaboration of 22 linguistically and culturally competent family resource agencies in San Francisco with the mutual goal of promoting healthy families through education and advocacy citywide. APA's Visitacion Valley Strong Families plays an active role in developing community in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood.
The Family Support Center located in Chinatown provides programs and services to support the growth and development of all family members – adults, youth and children. Read an interview with an APA heroine, a Home Visitor. They bring the services of APA Family Support Services into the homes of at-risk families. Learn about the Support Groups that provide a safe place and the comfort of knowing you are not alone in this world.
Confidential Counseling is available to families or to individual family members. The API HOTLINE is a resource to parents and youth in times of stress and crisis. Trained hotline volunteers can help you in Cambodian, Cantonese, Laotian, Mandarin, Samoan, Tagalog and Vietnamese.
